Expressive Arts for Wellness

As a multidisciplinary artist, I have developed a wide range of practical creative skills, including painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, and more. I like to work with a wide range of materials because it allows me to express the story I wish to tell visually.

Over the years, I have developed many art-related programs for all ages; however, it was when I unintentionally used my creativity to cope with my trauma after a DV relationship. I couldn’t find the words to describe how I was feeling at the time, and it didn’t feel right for me to talk about it, but creating did. I created a large body of work, which led to a collaboration with another artist from DV past, and we showcased 2 exhibitions at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery and won the Digital Art Prize at the Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards in 2016 for Battlefield: Known Enemy. This was when I realised I had turned my pain into triumph.

I know firsthand how difficult it is to express your feelings verbally, which is why I have created a space to share my self-expressive practice with others like me.

FAQ's

What ages are sessions available for?

18+ as these sessions are adult focused.

What do the sessions look like?

Individual sessions (support persons welcome)

I DO NOT analyse, interpret, or critique your work! My sessions are designed entirely around you, with “open to interpretation” processes to help you explore your inner self. Sessions are about having fun and leaving the studio with a happier mindset and creative skills to continue using at home.

Do I need to be “good at art?”

No. Absolutely NOT. These sessions are about the process and exploring, not about technical skills. However, if you would like to learn some technical skills, I am happy to share my knowledge if it will assist your process.

What materials will be available?

Pencils, pens, paint pens, watercolour, acrylic paint, collage, paper, material, glue, canvas, thread. Aprons are available. I do not offer Oil painting or plaster materials due to unpleasant fumes and not having a “mess” space.

Do I get to keep my artwork?

ABSOLUTELY yes you do!
